Maryland State Police are investigating a two-vehicle crash in Charles County that killed a toddler and left three people injured on April 21.
The victim was a two-year-old boy, the son of the twenty-one-year-old driver of a 2017 Hyundai Elantra, Princess Cecilia Pearl Collins from Waldorf, Maryland. She was taken to the University of Maryland Capital Region Medical Center for her injuries. Rahsaan Johnson, was pronounced dead at the same hospital and later was taken to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore for an autopsy.
Another child of Collins, a two-month-old boy, identified as Jahan Keys, was taken by Maryland State Police medevac to Children’s National Hospital for treatment of his injuries.
The driver of the Ford, forty-eight-year-old William Anthony Hall, also from Waldorf, sustained injuries in the accident and was taken to the University of Maryland Charles Regional Medical Center.
Maryland State Police La Plata Barrack troopers got to Maryland Rt. 5 in the area of Pika Road around 2:30 p.m. The troopers found the Hyundai and a 2018 Ford F-250 truck, in an almost direct collision. For now, it’s not known what caused the two-vehicle crash in Charles County.
The Maryland State Police Crash Team responded at the scene and is managing a detailed investigation. Troopers from the Forestville Barrack also came to help at the scene, along with the Charles County Sheriff’s Office. The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration personnel managed the 3-hour road closure for the accident investigation. The investigation continues and after its completion, it will be presented to the Charles County State’s Attorney’s office for review.
