Baltimore County Records Fatal Multi-Vehicle Collision on Interstate 695

One person died following a multiple-vehicle collision on Interstate 695 in Baltimore County. The accident happened on Tuesday afternoon, October 19th. The immediate cause of the crash was not available at the time of this report.

However, in a press release, the Maryland State Police said that around 3:30 p.m., troopers from their Golden Rings Barrack responded to the inner loop of Interstate 695 for a four-vehicle collision. The crash was in the area of Greenspring Avenue.

The preliminary investigation revealed that a Volvo tractor-trailer operated by Sarabjit Singh, 50, of Newark, Delaware, rear-ended a Dodge Caravan. The impact pushed the smaller vehicle off the road into the jersey wall. The tractor-trailer then struck the back of a Hyundai Santa Fe and sideswiped a Toyota Avalon.

Medics conveyed the Dodge driver of Baltimore, Maryland, to R. Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore, where she later died from her injuries. The female driver of the Hyundai received treatment for her injuries at GBMC in Towson, Maryland. The crash led to the closure of the right three lanes of the interstate for three hours.

The MSP Crash Team is investigating the cause of the collision on Interstate 695. Once they conclude their investigation, they’ll turn their findings over to the Baltimore County State’s Attorney Office to decide on potential charges.

It is not unusual for a criminal charge to accompany accidents of this nature. However, the presence of a criminal act does not stop crash victims or their survivors from filing a  compensation claim. If the claim succeeds, the victims will get a financial settlement for the harm suffered.
