An auto accident occurred on September 9th, involving two vehicles. The officers responded to the accident that happened in the area of Poplar Hill Road near Dr. Samuel Mudd Road in Waldorf.
The initial investigation showed the driver of a Chevrolet Impala was going southbound on Poplar Hill Road when they lost control, passed the double yellow lane markings, and hit a Lexus SUV, which was driving northbound on Poplar Hill Road.
Twenty-year-old Andre Alonso Harris from Hyattsville was a passenger in the Impala, was pronounced dead at the scene. The three other people in the vehicle ended up critical injuries and were taken to a hospital.
The twenty-year-old driver Demetrius Phillips from Brandwyne was also pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the SUV – a forty-seen-year-old woman from was taken to a hospital with severe, but non-life-threatening injuries. The police ask anyone with additional info about this accident to contact Cpl. R. Brooks of the Traffic Operations Unit at (301) 932-3056. The police continue the investigation.
