One woman lost her life and three other people ended with serious injuries after a four-vehicle accident that happened in Rockville, Maryland. The fatal accident happened on Tuesday morning on Maryland 28 and West Montgomery Avenue, close to the ramp for Interstate 270.
After the accident, the police closed part of Maryland 28 and stopped the traffic in the area for a few hours, while the authorities investigated the collision.
The accident happened sometime after 9 a.m. when two vehicles hit and then two more vehicles ended up crashing into the initial crash, the Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service said.
Four people were trapped inside their cars before the rescue crews took them out and transported them to the nearest hospital.
Later that day, Montgomery County police informed the public in a tweet that one of the people involved in the accident, an adult woman, died as a result of the severity of her injuries.
Both lanes of Maryland 28 between Harley Avenue and Nelson Street have opened again in the afternoon, after six or so hours.
