DO call 911. Request that the responding officer identify all passengers in the information and/or police report prepared.

DO request an ambulance if hurt.

DO take pictures of the accident scene (position of vehicles in intersection/landmarks).

DO take pictures of the property damage to all vehicles (and vehicle tags).

DO get contact name/address/telephone for witnesses (take picture of their vehicle tag).

DO get contact name/address/telephone for passengers (take picture of their State issued identification card or driver’s license), also screen shot the passenger information available in the Uber app (name/telephone number).  If you are an Uber or Lyft passenger, screen shot all of the driver’s information available in the Uber or Lyft app.  Also, take a picture of the Uber or Lyft driver’s license and vehicle tag.

DO get contact name/address/telephone for all drivers involved in the collision.

DO get insurance information for all drivers involved in the collision.

DO make sure that the Uber/Lyft vehicle/driver identified in the app (if you are a passenger) matches the actual vehicle you were traveling in and the person operating that vehicle. Occasionally, Uber/Lyft drivers swap vehicles and/or lend their vehicles/app to someone else to use.  Immediately notify the responding police officer if you identify any discrepancies.

DO NOT discuss on social media.

DO NOT take blame or apologize at the scene.
