Damascus Car Crash Into Building Kills One

One person died after a Damascus car crash into a building on Sunday night, December 19th. The primary cause of the fiery single-vehicle accident was not immediately available.

However, in a press release, the Montgomery County Department of Police said at approximately 11 p.m., a 5th District officer on patrol found a building on fire in the 9900 block of Main Street. The officer, upon further inquiry, found that a vehicle left the roadway and collided with the house. The Montgomery Fire Rescue personnel responded and pronounced the driver dead at the crash site.

The preliminary investigation found that the crashed vehicle was northbound on Ridge Road, approaching the Y intersection of Lewis Drive and Main Street. The driver then left the roadway for unknown reasons, struck a dumpster and then the building. The motorist is unidentified at this time.

The police will release the driver’s identity after notifying the next-of-kin. The investigation into the Damascus car crash is active and headed by the Montgomery County Department of Police — Collision Reconstruction Unit (CRU). Anyone with information about the occurrence should contact CRU detectives at 240-773-6620.

Motor vehicle accidents occur when drivers least expect them. However, they are entirely preventable if motorists obey traffic rules and place safety above all else. Since this is not always the case, the law protects victims who suffer from another person’s negligence.

The law does this by letting them file an insurance claim or personal injury lawsuit against the negligent driver. However, personal injury claims come with peculiar challenges that accident victims may not handle themselves. This is why we always advise that victims get legal representation before beginning the claims process.
